Background

Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru, greatest devotee of Sri Raghavendra Swamy is described in Mantralaya(1078).

Meaning

I am considering utilizing the knowledge passed down by my father, Sri Raghavendra Patwari, concerning Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru.

Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru's devotion to Sri Rayaru shines brightly as a beacon of faith. From his early days, he was known for his mischief and irresponsibility, much to the dismay of his scholarly father, who was a respected Sanskrit Pandit. Unfortunately, his waywardness only worsened as he grew older, leading him down a path of idleness and surrounding himself with unsavory companions.

One day, a person in the town shouted at him, "If you were my son, I would have disciplined you severely. You come from humble and devout parents, yet look at the life you lead!" These words struck a chord within Dasaru, illuminating his path and prompting him to acknowledge his errors.

Dasaru made a profound decision to surrender himself to his KulaSwami MukhyaPrana Devaru, seeking the divine bestowal of knowledge. With sincere dedication, he immersed himself in devoted service. After a period of time, HanumanthDevaru, pleased with Dasaru's service, appeared in his dream, proclaiming, "Guru Rayaru will bless you and transform your life." Encouraged by this divine message, PranaDevaru instructed Dasaru to return home and await the arrival of GuruRaya.

Upon returning home, Dasaru patiently awaited the divine intervention promised by PranaDevaru. One fateful night, Sri Rayaru appeared in his dream, placing His hands upon Dasaru's head. In that sacred moment, the divine knowledge of Brahma Gynaya flowed into Dasaru's being. Transformed by this divine grace, Dasaru emerged as a learned Pandita, earning renown and reverence as "Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru" within the esteemed HariDasa Koota.

Note : Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru lived during 19th century, please do not confuse him with Sri Jagannath Dasaru, the author of HariKathamruthaSara.

Within the sacred verses of the HariDasa Sahitya, there exists no greater tribute to Sri Rayaru than the abundant compositions penned by Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru. His devotion flowed endlessly through his Krutis, capturing the essence of Sri Rayaru's divine grace and teachings, immortalizing their bond in the hearts of devotees for generations to come.

Here are some of the works written by Dasaru about Sri Rayaru

In Kannada Dasaru wrote "Raghvendra Vijaya". My father Sri Raghavendra Patwari wrote the meaning of the entire  Raghvendra Vijaya with the blessing of Sri Rayaru.

Sri Guru Jagannath Dasaru's profound work, Sri Raghavendra Vijaya, consists of nine Sandhis, each revealing invaluable insights into propitiating Sri GuruRaghavendra and attaining life's necessities. As a devoted follower of Sri Rayaru, Dasaru intimately portrayed the path to seeking blessings from Sri GuruRaghavendra with utmost sincerity and reverence. The entire community of devotees, known as Bhakta Koti, humbly extends their heartfelt gratitude to Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru for his invaluable contribution to spiritual literature.

The devotees of Sri Rayaru must grasp the sanctity, divinity, and all-encompassing nature of Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru. Only those with pure hearts and minds can truly receive the blessings of Sri GuruRaghavendra. The initial chapter of Sri Raghavendra Vijaya eloquently elucidates this profound truth, emphasizing the importance of spiritual purity in attaining the grace of the divine.

In the sacred act of performing seva-pradakshina, it is imperative to approach it with a heart free from the burdens of hatred and jealousy towards others. Only then does this service become truly beloved to Sri Rayaru. The divine blessings bestowed during this practice are reserved solely for those with pure hearts. Such purity of heart ensures the fullest reception of Sri Rayaru's blessings, a profound truth eloquently highlighted within the verses of Sri Raghavendra Vijaya.

Indeed, the punya, or spiritual merit, of Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru is truly immense. His unwavering devotion, profound understanding of spiritual truths, and selfless service to Sri Rayaru and humanity have elevated him to a divine stature. Through his exemplary life and teachings, Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru continues to inspire countless souls on their spiritual journeys, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of devotees for generations to come.

The devotion towards Sri Raghavendrateertharu is the ultimate truth and is the most simple and effective way to reach Sri Hari  - "NAMBI KETTAVARILLAVO EE GURUGALA"! “Those who have complete faith in this Guru will never be disappointed.”
